The successful candidate will have a passion for Linux and will be comfortable tackling low level code in both the kernel and user space, capable of optimizing memory management on modern x86 platforms and with the potential to help develop the next iteration of their hypervisor. Responsibilities are varied, typically including; participating in the design and development of new features; debugging of issues that may be complex in nature and span multiple components; enhancing the product by identifying and implementing improvements in areas of fragile code; and representing my client and the development team on Open Source mailing lists.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

* Bachelor&amp;#39;s degree or better, preferably in software engineering or computer science.
* 5+ years&amp;#39; experience of distributed systems software development preferred, though strong post-doctoral 
 candidates are also welcome to apply.
* Experience of Python essential. All development is in Python.
* Experience within the OpenStack or server virtualisation platform communities strongly preferred. Other

Roles and responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role are varied, typically including:
* Working closely with Support Escalation to assist in handling high profile customer issues
* Contributing to and driving improvement of the supportability of the server virtualisation platform - 
 creating, writing and modifying their software and tools, especially with respect to diagnosis, stability, 
 crash recovery and monitoring
* Working with other Engineering teams on fixing critical defects in the core products
* Creating patches, private builds and hotfixes to meet customer needs and life-cycle maintenance

* Driving technical knowledge and expertise sharing from Development to Support Escalation
* Feeding back to Development of key technical shortcomings in their products as identified by

Essential skills:

You should be familiar with Linux and you will be comfortable resolving issues or tackling code at a variety of levels in IT or communication systems generally. You will have some or all of the following skills :

Most of the work we do on server virtualisation platform is open source, so it is likely that you could also be contributing code to Linux mainline.
